Agastache is a member of the mint family and has anise scented and flavored leaves, sometimes used for tea. But it also provides a long-lasting display of lavender flowers all summer into fall, good for cutting, and attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. It is also deer-resistant. Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, barely covering seeds. Transplant to the garden end of May in full sun or part-shade. Needs well-drained location and tolerates dry soil. Will self-seed.
