A tropical vine that can be used as a houseplant. Needs a structure to climb on. Flowers are used as a dye and also commonly used as a tea. The flowers have major blue anthocyanins, which are chemical compounds that react with acid to turn the tea into a well-known brilliant blue color. Widely used in Asia in ayurvedic medicine. Start seed indoors about 4 to 6 weeks before last frost, or sow seeds directly outside once soil is warm in the spring.
