Larkspur is a low maintenance, upright growing annual with light green, feathery foliage topped with spires of brightly colored mostly blue flowers (similar to Delphinium) throughout the summer. Remove spent blooms to prolong flowering. Good cut flower and attracts pollinators. Poisonous to humans if ingested.
Direct sow in moist, fertile soil 1/4" deep just after last frost and thin to 12". Germinates in 20-30 days. If starting indoors, cold stratify for 2 weeks beginning 8-10 weeks before last frost. It often reseeds in the garden.
