A member of the Hibiscus (mallow) family, okra is grown both for its beautiful flowers and as a vegetable. It needs full sun and warm evenings to grow well.

Start indoors 3-4 weeks before 1st frost or outdoors when soil temps reach about 65 degrees. Seeds benefit from overnight soaking prior to planting. Sow seeds 1/2" to 1" deep in rows 3' apart.
