African Lily is a perennial in zone 8 or higher (zone 7 with protection), with rounded clusters of bell-shaped blue flowers. It can also be grown in pots as a houseplant, or the rhizomes dug in the fall and replanted in the spring. Full sun to partial shade with fertile, moist, well-drained soil.
Start seed indoors and cover lightly since they need light to germinate. Seed does not germinate well; soaking seed may speed germination. Transplant to garden after frost. Plants started from seed may need 2-3 years to bloom.
