Lovage is a herbaceous perennial, considered to be a culinary herb. It tastes like celery, only stronger, and all parts of the plant are edible. It grows in zones 4 – 8 in moist, rich soil in full sun. The plant requires little care, just watering as a young plant. A thick layer of mulch should be put around the plant in the winter.
Seeds can be started inside 6 to 8 weeks before last frost, or directly outdoors. Lovage can self-seed if the flowers are not cut.
