Love-in-a-mist has easy-to-grow, charming, old-fashioned flowers that do best in full sun and fertile soil.  The flowers bloom in early summer, each about 1.5" across surrounded by lacy, thread-like bracts.  Plants have leaves that resemble fennel foliage, making the plant very attractive even when not blooming. Will self-sow. Prefers moist soil; does not do well in hot weather.

Begin sowing as soon as soil can be worked, in early spring.  Plant 1/8" deep and water well.  For continuous bloom, make successive plantings every three weeks.  Seed may be started indoors 6 to 8 weeks before frost, but they do not transplant well.
