Plum Granny ornamental melons reach a tennis ball mature size with adequate moisture.  Best grown on a porch or deck rail or other vertical structure where the intense melon fragrance can be enjoyed.  Makes a cute, decorative addition to a garden.  The taste of these Appalachian heirlooms is at best bland if grown in good soil; inedible if grown in acidic, clay soil.
 
Sow seeds 1/2" to 3/4" deep after all danger of frost is past.
