Sugar Cube is a small, 2.5 lb. melon with orange flesh, a wonderful aroma, intense sweet flavor, and a long shelf life.  When halved, it's the perfect size for personal portions.  Good disease resistance and long shelf life.  Although a hybrid, growers report that it comes true from seed.  Keep mulched, since melons have a shallow root system, and keep plants well-watered.
 
Direct sow 1/2 inch deep in fertile, warm soil after dangers of frost, 3 inches apart in groups of 4-6, with groups spaced 4-6 ft. apart.  Seedlings emerge in 7-10 days.  Thin to 3 or 4 strongest seedlings in each group when they are 1-2 inches high.
