Lettuce Leaf Basil is grown for its large, ruffled leaves that resemble lettuce leaves, and its mild, sweet flavor.  The large, crinkled foliage can be chopped and used in any recipe calling for basil, or used whole in fresh salads just like lettuce leaves. It prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil in full sun. Harvest leaves as needed, starting when the plant reaches about 6 inches in height.

Plant basil seeds at 1/4 inch depth in well-drained, fertile soil. Indoor seeds should be started 6-8 weeks before the last frost and transplanted into the garden after the danger of frost has passed.
