Strawflowers are colorful annuals in the aster family that are easily grown in average to dry soil.  They prefer full sun, but can tolerate part shade.  Strawflowers are popular for its long-lasting flowers, which make excellent dried flowers.  A low-maintenance plant, but will benefit from pruning to encourage side branching.
 
Start seed indoors, 6 to 8 weeks before last frost.  Press the seeds lightly into soil, since they need light for germination.
